It’s June and most of the world is still in lockdown mode. Life as we used to know has changed and may not return in a new normal.
For me, essential boils down to family (including dog), food and shelter. I have a gym membership but since gyms are not allowed to operate for the past two months and in the near future, I have been running around my neighborhood as well as working out to Youtube videos. I still get my exercise. Hmmm. Maybe I should terminate my gym membership after this.
As for food, I always enjoy eating out. Given the lockdown, I have survived through a combination of cooking, MIL, and dabao. Grocery expense has went up accordingly. I will still eat out when it’s permissible to do so again. But is it essential? I guess not.
Going to the office. All of us have been WFH for a while now. Even going to office is not essential now if you can WFH effectively. Who can imagine this at the beginning of 2020?
By focusing on the bare essentials, I have more time for reading, doing online courses, exercising, sleeping etc. Who says Covid-19 cannot be a good thing?
