The first few days of January are always exciting. Another year is upon us and there are hopes and well wishes all around.
The weather also cooperated this year. It was cool and sometimes chilly for first two weeks of 2021. Not that cold until you have to bring out your winterwear like some people did.
What did it for me is always the annual statement from the CPF board. All the ins and outs of a hopefully productive year. With increased digitalisation, you can almost always receive your statement in the first few days of January.
Like a little kid stealing a look at his angbao, I opened my statement. As expected, my interest was about 18k for 2020. This was for principal of about $600k so it worked out to be around 3%.
In this time of low (even negative) interest rate, you can’t complain with such rates for a risk-free investment.
I know it’s slow but it is steady. Let compounding do its magic. Be patient.
