I enjoy reading all kinds of books. Well almost all kinds. Fiction, non-fiction, autobiographies and what have you.
During the past 4 months when I was working from home, I managed to read about 30 books. This is in sharp contrast to the first quarter of the year when I only managed about 10 books.
We are fortunate in Singapore. Our library is first rate and well-resourced. It is even better now with the ease of borrowing, reading and returning ebooks and audio books. I just need to search using the library app, select and download the books I want to my mobile and start reading/listening anywhere and anytime I like.
Reading is a habit I cultivated from young. I guess I am lucky. My parents brought me and my brothers to the swimming pool and we would visit the library nearby after dinner. I also remembered going to the library with my primary school friends. In fact, I was a librarian for a while in primary school!
I started reading financial education/literacy books when I got older. That journey brought me to Warren Buffett and his thinking. I read books on him as well as books recommended by him. That in turn took me to Bill Gates and his book recommendations.
Reading widens one’s mind and perspectives. It is one of the best ways to upgrade oneself and process/analyse new information. Best of all, it is free! It is a pity how little people read these days. I am glad I have made reading my lifelong hobby.
